How To: Root HTC Desire

This guide is only for Froyo 2.2 and earlier versions

materials that need to be downloaded
- Unrevoked3.  choose according to your OS
- windowws Usb driver for unrevoked

Install HTC Driver
- Install HTC Sync
- Desire Plug your PC using a USB cable (charge mode only)
- Open Device Manager on your PC
Android phone will be seen in the other devices
- Right click on the android phone, select update driver
- Select "browse my computer for driver software"
- Click on the button "Browse ...", then search the HTC folder in Program Files, OK
- Do not forget to check on include subfolders
- Click Next, wait until the process is complete
- HTC drivers are installed
- Pada device manager akan muncul Android Phone -> My HTC di bagian (paling atas)
- Driver finished and now we move to install HBOOT driver

Install HBOOT Driver (Windows)
- download Unrevoked modified USB driver, then extract
- turn off desire, then reboot into HBOOT by pressing the power button + volume down
- after entering into HBOOT wait until appears "Checking SD", then select HBOOT USB PLUG by pressing the volume down 4 times. (On some devices not show the option HBOOT USB PLUG, then just go directly to the next step)
- Connect Desire to PC using USB cable and wait until it appears HBOOT USB PLUG on Desire screen
- Open Device Manager on your PC
- At the other device, you will see Android 1.0 Device
- Right click on the Android 1.0 and then click Update Driver Software
- Choose Browse my computer for driver software
- Click Browse and select the Android USB Driver extracted at step 1>> OK>> Next
- Select OK if it appears warning during the install process
- When finished, click Close, then make sure it is there are Android Bootloader in the Android Phone on the Device Manager

ROOTING :
- Download Unrevoked3 according to your OS
- Uninstall HTC Sync..!!!
- Go to Settings on the Desire, on the the Connect to PC select the default is "Charge Only" and remove the check mark on the the Ask me
- Make sure on the USB Debugging Your Desire is active, Settings>> Applications>> Development and check on the USB Debugging
- Open Unrevoked3 (reflash_package.exe), it will show the status of "waiting for device ..."
- By default, Unrevoked will use the recovery clockworkmod. If you want to use the recovery AmonRa then select File>> Custom Recovery>> locate image file recovery AmonRa that you have downloaded>> open
- Connect Desire to PC with USB
- Follow further instructions on the Unrevoked
